Santa Monica Studio has released update version 6.05 for God of War Ragnarök, following a series of recent patches aimed at refining the experience introduced in the free 20th Anniversary content update. While the official patch notes for God of War Ragnarök version 6.05 have yet to be published, early indications suggest that this update primarily addresses lingering bugs left unresolved in previous patches.
Version 6.05 appears to be a follow-up to update 6.04, which itself was a maintenance patch for the more substantial version 6.03. The latter introduced the Dark Odyssey Collection—a set of free cosmetic items celebrating the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise—and new customization features. Meanwhile, update 6.04 focused on eliminating several critical bugs that impacted gameplay progression and cosmetic consistency during cutscenes.
Previously Fixed Issues in 6.04
- Resolved a hard lock during the Muspelheim Trials that could prevent players from progressing if they exited the game prematurely after opening a chest.
- Addressed a bug related to the Guardian Shield when using the Dark Odyssey skin.
- Ensured that cutscenes now preserve the cosmetic appearances of weapons, such as the Draupnir spear, which now reflects prior visual customizations.
Although the full list of changes for version 6.05 remains undisclosed at this time, it is presumed to include additional refinements based on user feedback from the community. One user had previously reported a persistent bug that could cause a save file to be locked if the Crucible challenge event sequence was interrupted. Whether this issue has been addressed in 6.05 remains to be confirmed, but given the update’s timing and scope, it is plausible.

The Dark Odyssey Collection added the following content for free:
- Kratos Armor Set and Visual Appearance
- Companion Outfits for Atreus and Freya
- Weapon Appearances and Attachments for the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear
- Shield Appearances and Rönds, covering all major shield types
- A new “Edit Appearance” feature that enables cosmetic customization of weapons and shields without altering their stats
