Earlier this month, Hollow Knight: Silksong received a surprise listing on the Xbox store. Both the rating and listing went up on April 1, 2024, and the game was being promoted by the content and marketing manager at Xbox as well as the marketing manager for Hollow Knight: Silksong. Interestingly, the Xbox Store also revealed that Hollow Knight: Silksong had been rated by ESRB, which indicated that a release date announcement may happen sometime soon. It has been rated E10+ for Fantasy Violence and Mild Blood, which is in line with the Mild Violence rating given by the Australian Classification Board. The game takes place in a kingdom filled with bugs and has similar gameplay to its predecessor, with a greater emphasis on speed, combat, and platforming.

The Xbox store page store also confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is an Xbox Playwhere game, which means those who purchase the game on the Xbox Store will be able to play it across Windows or Xbox consoles. It is listed for Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. The game will also arrive day one for Xbox Game Pass, and while the game is coming to all major platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, and PS4/PS5, it has yet to receive a release date. Developer Team Cherry had originally planned to release the metroidvania title during the first half of 2023. However, development has yet to be completed.
