Guerrilla Games has released a small patch for Horizon Forbidden West today bumping the game to version 1.01 on PS4.

This update is only available on the PS4 platform and has a relatively small download size of under 1 GB. Its primary focus is to enhance security measures related to data transmission, improve user privacy, and ensure the integrity of user data. The official patch notes indicate that this update doesn’t include any new gameplay features or content updates. This update coincides with a major system software update for both the PS4 and PS5. The PS5 has received improvements related to the DualSense controller, as well as overall system performance enhancements.

Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.01 Patch Notes

  • Additional security protocols for data transmission to improve user privacy and data integrity

Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing game released on February 18, 2022, for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is a continuation of the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn game. The game is set in the post-apocalyptic Western United States and follows the protagonist, Aloy, as she navigates a world filled with dangerous robotic creatures. The game offers a vast open-world experience, filled with quests, and incorporates a mix of ranged and melee combat.

While the base game was released on both PS4 and PS5, its expansion, Burning Shores missed out on PS4. The dated hardware of the PS4 might be one of the reasons why it didn’t get the expansion as the SSD was crucial in offering a seamless open-world experience. The update today doesn’t magically add support for the expansion in case you were hoping to see it on PS4.

Horizon Forbidden West is out now for PS4 and PS5. It is also coming to the PC later this month. The game was developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
