Death Stranding 2 received a special presentation during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, although no release date was announced. However, fans shouldn’t be concerned.

Hideo Kojima, head of Kojima Productions, confirmed during the presentation that Death Stranding 2 is still scheduled for release in 2025.

“I didn’t announce the release date today, but it has been decided, and we are currently preparing for it,” Kojima stated.

“There are different timings for the release. Since we’re targeting 2025, it will launch next year, and we’ll announce the exact date at some point next year. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we cannot reveal it today. As I mentioned earlier, we’re still working on the game—it’s not finished yet—but I’m feeling really good about it.”

While DS2 will be a PS5 exclusive, the first game was also released on PC. The game is being developed using Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine by Kojima Productions. In addition to Death Stranding 2, Kojima is also working on other projects, including a new game titled O.D, which promises to raise the bar in the horror genre.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is confirmed for release in 2025, though a specific date has yet to be announced. Given how Kojima referenced it during the Tokyo Game Show 2024 presentation, it’s possible the release date could be revealed at The Game Awards later this year. Kojima’s close relationship with Geoff Keighley suggests they may have something planned for the event, and a release date announcement would be a significant moment for the game.

The game was first revealed during The Game Awards 2022. It features a star-studded cast including Elle Fanning, Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and George Miller. PlayStation is producing the sequel in partnership with Kojima Productions, and it is currently set to launch on the PS5 in 2025.
