Sony Interactive Entertainment is currently working on a remaster or sequel to FromSoftware’s action role-playing game, Bloodborne, based on the latest report.

Twitter/X influencer and writer DanielRPK claims to have heard about a new Bloodborne project that is currently in development at Sony Interactive Entertainment, though he added that he isn’t sure whether it is a sequel or a remaster.

The insider had no further details to share regarding the new Bloodborne project. Chances are that it may well be a remaster, as fans have been asking for one since quite some time now. The game had received a surge in player count after the release of Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree. From the beginning of June, 2024, to the week after the Elden Ring expansion launched, Bloodborne’s player count on PS5 and PS4 rose by 57.77%. This spike appears to be driven by FromSoftware fans who were eager to play other games from the developer. However, unlike other FromSoftware titles such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Dark Souls Remastered, Bloodborne continued to attract more players after the release of Shadow of the Erdtree. In the week ending June 30, 2024, the game saw an additional 11.61% increase in players, making it the 65th most-played PlayStation game during the week.

Recently, streamer Kai Cenat streamed his playthrough of Bloodborne in order to convince Sony to work on a “remaster or remake”. The content said that the developers have watched his every move when it came to him playing these games, so the least that he can do is try and push the narrative for something to happen. He called out both PlayStation and FromSoftware and pointed out that Bloodborne is one of the most highly requested games for a remaster and a PC version.

Bloodborne is currently available exclusively for PS4, and is also playable on PS5 via backward compatibility.
