A new rumor circulating online has claimed that Capcom is currently developing several major projects tied to the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry franchises, including a remake of the original Devil May Cry and multiple new Resident Evil titles.
According to the claims, Capcom held an internal meeting between June and July 2022 to determine the future direction of the Resident Evil series. During that meeting, the company allegedly approved remakes of Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, and Resident Evil 1 alongside Resident Evil 10.
The rumored projects are reportedly operating under internal codenames. Resident Evil Zero is allegedly known as “Project Chambers,” Resident Evil 1 as “Project Fallen,” and Resident Evil 10 as “Project Redlife.”
The leak also claims that the Resident Evil 1 remake entered pre-production around 2022 to 2023 before recently moving into full production. Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 10 are reportedly using Capcom’s REX Engine.
According to the same information, Claire Redfield is said to be the protagonist of Resident Evil 10. The rumor further suggests that Capcom shutting down several fan remake projects tied to Resident Evil Zero, Code: Veronica, and Resident Evil 1 during 2022 may have coincided with the company’s internal plans for official remakes.
The report additionally mentions that Ada Wong is expected to appear in downloadable content for Resident Evil Requiem, the recently released ninth mainline game in the series. That detail appears to align with comments previously shared by insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem.
“Okay, so I sat on this for a bit,” Dusk Golem wrote earlier this year. “There was a slight slip up somewhere. This isn’t from my sources, unintentional leak.”
The insider later added, “But Ada Wong is very likely in the Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC,” before stating that the information “paints Ada being involved in RE9’s DLC in some way.”
The latest rumor also hints that Resident Evil Requiem may receive more than one story expansion.
Capcom recently released a free update for Resident Evil Requiem introducing a new mode called Leon Must Die Forever. The game launched earlier this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms. Neither Capcom nor the developers involved have commented on the latest rumors surrounding future projects.
