70 US Dollar PlayStation first party games are set to receive a price hike in Brazil, beginning with Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost Of Yotei.

The PlayStation Store in Brazil has been updated with new prices for both Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, resulting in both titles receiving a price hike. At this point, it’s unclear whether this is part of the company’s global global strategy to counter inflation and US government imposed import tariffs or a specific move to remove regional pricing offered on the Brazilian store. Ghost of Yotei now sells for R$399,90 and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is available for R$349,90.

Competitor Microsoft recently announced a 10 US Dollar price hike on new first party Xbox games that would previously have cost 69.99 US Dollars. After the price increase, full-priced AAA games developed by the company’s first party studios will be priced at 79.99 US Dollars starting from the holiday lineup this year. According to the company, these changes reflect rising development costs and evolving market dynamics.

Similarly, Nintendo has announced plans to apply “variable pricing” on its first party Switch 2 titles. The company will look at each game, and the development that goes into the game, the breadth and depth of the gameplay, the durability over time and the repeatability of gameplay experiences, and many other factors in order to determine the right price point for its games. Major first-party Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives like the upcoming Mario Kart World, the next Super Smash game, the next Legend of Zelda title, or the next 3D Mario platformer will cost 79.99 US Dollars. On the other hand, the usual Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives, such as Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders, will be available at the standard price of 69.99 US Dollars.

It’s only a matter of time before Sony Interactive Entertainment also revises its pricing of PlayStation first party titles. The updated prices for Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on the Brazilian PlayStation Store may be a sign of things to come.
