Rockstar Games’ 2010 action-adventure game, Red Dead Redemption, has been rated in Korea in 2023, based on the latest information.
In a new listing filed on June 15, 2023, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has rated (via Gematsu) Red Dead Redemption.
The latest rating has been assigned the classification number “CC-NV-230615-001”. In the Korean game rating system, “NV” denotes console games, while “NP” is used for PC games. However, it’s important to note that this does not mean that a PC version does not exist.
Prior to the new rating, ratings for the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, the Undead Nightmare Collection, and GOTY Edition of Red Dead Redemption had already been classified by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea. Although Rockstar Games has not officially announced a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption, the existence of this new rating could be an indication that the studio has been working on an updated version for modern platforms.
Red Dead Redemption is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. Serving as the sequel to Red Dead Revolver from 2004, it stands as the second installment in the Red Dead series. Set against the backdrop of the fading American frontier in 1911, the game revolves around the story of John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son have been captured by the government as leverage to force his compliance as a gunslinger for hire. Driven by necessity, Marston embarks on a quest to bring three members of his former gang to justice.
The game offers a third-person perspective to players, allowing them to freely explore an interactive open world that presents a fictionalized rendition of the Western United States and Northern Mexico. Traveling on horseback or by foot, players can navigate this vast landscape. The combat system places emphasis on the gunslinger experience, featuring a gameplay mechanic known as “Dead Eye.” This unique ability enables players to mark multiple targets on enemies and engage in slow-motion gunfights. Additionally, Red Dead Redemption incorporates a morality system, where the player’s choices and actions impact their character’s level of honor and fame, influencing how other in-game characters perceive and react to the player.
