Production on Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has officially wrapped, according to director Jeff Fowler.
The filmmaker shared the update on social media, posting, “And that’s a wrap on #SonicMovie4 !!!” Fowler also praised the team behind the movie, adding, “On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we have filmed the BEST Sonic Movie yet and can’t wait to share.”
The fourth entry in Paramount’s Sonic film series is currently scheduled to release in theaters on March 19, 2027, following the major commercial success of the previous movies.
Directed once again by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 recently offered fans a first look at Metal Sonic, who appears set to play a major role in the upcoming film. The movie is reportedly drawing significant inspiration from Sonic CD, the 1993 Sega title that first introduced both Metal Sonic and Amy Rose to the franchise.
Kristen Bell has joined the cast as the voice of Amy Rose, while Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey are all returning for the sequel.
The next installment is expected to expand Team Sonic further while introducing a larger robotic threat tied to Metal Sonic and multiple machine-based enemies. As with the previous films, the project blends live-action performances with CGI characters and environments inspired by Sega’s long-running game series.
With filming now complete, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 moves into post-production ahead of its March 2027 theatrical debut.
