EA and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars: Jedi Survivor may require a mandatory download for physical copies.
The Facebook page of New Zealand based online retailer Mighty Ape has shared images of physical copies of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, which suggest that will require a mandatory download in order to play the game.
The retailer has received its initial stock of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor physical copies, and it states on its Facebook page that they are ready to ship to customers by next week.
Console owners aren’t unfamiliar with the concept of downloading day one updates in the current landscape of game releases. However, having to download a significant chunk of an already massive sized game is a different ordeal altogether. At this point, some fans may opt to purchase a digital copy over the physical disc version.
The pre-load for the digital version of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor recently became available on Xbox, and it turns out that there is a massive difference in download size between the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions. The huge difference in download size between the Series X and Series S versions of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor comes as a surprise, as it is rather unprecedented. As to whether this is due to the use of higher quality assets in the Xbox Series X version remains to be seen.
Previously, it was revealed during a video preview session that Star Wars: Jedi Survivor will feature a vast open world that is connected to linear areas. Additionally, the preview revealed that the game will have Breath of the Wild style puzzle shrines for fans to explore. As such, exploration feels more rewarding compared to the prior entry. There’s also a larger variety of cosmetics in the Fallen Order sequel, including different jackets and haircuts.
