Bethesda Softworks’ rumored remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will allegedly be announced and released in April, 2025.

Known insider and content creator Nate the Hate took to Twitter/X to share an update on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion  remake announcement and release schedule. A few days ago, he had mentioned that the game is likely to hit store shelves sooner than the originally expected June, 2025, target. He now has more concrete details on its release window.

The insider mentioned that, as per current plans, Bethesda Softworks is targeting a release and announcement window of April, 2025, for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. He further said that the gap between the reveal and release will be minimal, and that a shadow drop is also possible.

Regarding the possibility of an Xbox Direct happening next month in April, 2025, Nate is certain that Microsoft has no such plans. It appears that the announcement will happen in a relatively low-key manner.

In July, 2023, an alleged ex-employee of Virtuous Games had claimed that the studio had been working on five different projects, arguably the biggest of which is project “Altar”, which they described as a remaster/remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. According to the source, the discussion regarding the project being a full remake was still ongoing at the time. They mentioned that the game runs on both Unreal Engine 5 and the old Oblivion engine in tandem. As per them, the new graphics are rendered in Unreal Engine 5, but most of the gameplay and physics are still done in the original engine.

Later in September, 2023, a leaked document from Microsoft that was presented as part of its court case against FTC contained the lineup of future titles from Bethesda Game Studios, and it included mention of a remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
