The early leaked build of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows doesn’t represent its final quality, as the development team continues to work on patches, according to Ubisoft.
In an official statement made on the official Assassin’s Creed discord server, a Ubisoft representative announced that the publisher is aware of some players gaining access to the upcoming title ahead of its official release. According to them, the development team is still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch and any Assassin’s Creed Shadows footage shared online does not represent the final quality of the game.

The Ubisoft representative expressed disappointment over the unfortunate leaks, saying that they can diminish the excitement for players. They encouraged the community to not spoil the experience for others, and thanked them for already taking steps to protect everyone from spoilers. Furthermore, they asked fans to keep an eye on the official Assassin’s Creed Discord channel for more surprises in the coming weeks.
Yesterday, Twitter/X user DannyStevens__ had claimed to have got his hands on an early copy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and he shared a bunch of screenshots and gameplay videos to prove it. It’s possible that a retailer may have broken street date or may have accidentally shipped a few copies early to those who had pre-ordered the game.
The leaker claimed to have played about 10-11 hours of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on a base PS5 in Quality mode. According to him, the on-disc version of the game is from an extremely old build. He was also unable to redeem the deluxe edition outfit codes that came with his copy. He found all the main and side quests he played thus far to be “very interesting”. He likened the experience to that of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, terming it nostalgic.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set for release on March 20, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
