Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 May Mark The Series Return To Steam

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 may mark the return for the series on Steam. The Steam downloadable content page for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 appears to suggest that this may well be the case.

The artwork for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 featuring Ghost can be seen at the bottom of the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 DLC page on the Steam storefront. Call of Duty Black Ops 3 also happens to be the last game in the series to appear on Valve’s platform.

Since the series’ departure from Steam, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty Vanguard were released exclusively on Activision Blizzard’s Battle.net platform on PC. However, with the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard being imminent, things appear to be changing, as Microsoft has previously done the same for Bethesda’s games. Bethesda’s storefront was shut down and the publisher’s games are now available on both Game Pass and Steam.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which was released in 2019. On October 25, 2019, the latter was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is the sixteenth installment in the Call of Duty series and a relaunch of the Modern Warfare sub-series.

The previous game took place in a realistic and current setting. The campaign featured a CIA officer and British SAS soldiers as they fought Russian invaders and Al-Qatala terrorists alongside rebels from the fictitious country of Urzikstan. The game’s Special Ops mode provided cooperative play missions that followed the plot.

The multiplayer option allowed for cross-platform multiplayer and advancement for the first time in the series. It was redesigned to make the gameplay more tactical, and it contained additional features such as a Realism mode that turned off the HUD and a 64-player version of the Ground War mode. As a post-launch upgrade, Warzone, a free-to-play battle royale mode, was also added.
