Final fantasy x remake release 2026

This isn’t unexpected at this point, given how many other game companies are making remakes of popular titles for the modern era. Square Enix has released pixel remasters for Final Fantasy I to VI, and has been working on a remake trilogy for Final Fantasy VII.

There are also rumors about work already being underway for a Final Fantasy IX remake. The latter is said to retain the traditional turn-based combat from the original game. Speaking during the latest episode of Game Mess Mornings, host Jeff Grubb, who is known for his sources within the video game industry, stated that the rumored Final Fantasy IX is real and that it will retain the classic turn-based combat seen in the original.

Grubb said that he heard about the existence of the project very recently. On the subject of whether Final Fantasy IX remake would feature a shift towards a more real-time combat system much like in Final Fantasy VII Remake, he stated that the former would almost certainly not be as ambitious a remake as the latter. In terms of ambition, he categorized the project as being somewhere between Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

As such, Grubb believes that the Final Fantasy IX remake will retain the combat system from the original. Additionally, the same Reset Era member who now claims that a Final Fantasy X remake is in development had also mentioned that the alleged Final Fantas IX remake will feature traditional gameplay that is closer to the original.
