Xbox ports of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy I-IV Pixel Remasters may be set to be announced at the upcoming TGS 2024, based on the latest rumor.
During the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast on YouTube, Rand al Thor asked co-host Jez Corden about his earlier comment regarding the whole slate of Final Fantasy titles coming to Xbox. In response, Corden clarified that the whole slate is indeed coming to Microsoft’s consoles, though not all announcements will happen at Tokyo Game Show. He added that fans should not expect Final Fantasy VII Remake to be announced this time around.
Instead, Corden believes that fans will possibly see a Final Fantasy XVI announcement for Xbox at TGS 2024. He said that the upcoming event will hint at a broader partnership between Square Enix and Xbox. As for Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remasters, Corden didn’t know for certain, but he did say that they would be a pretty good place for Square Enix to start with Xbox ports.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Final Fantasy XVI being in development for Xbox. Recently, insider and content creator Nate the Hate took to gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era to share that an Xbox port of Final Fantasy XVI is set to happen. He said that all that’s left is for Square Enix is to make an official announcement.
Furthermore, earlier this year, during an episode of The Infinite Podcast, Shpeshal Nick was asked regarding the chances of Final Fantasy XVI receiving an Xbox port in 2024. In response, he mentioned that it was the mystery game he had brought up during an episode of the XboxEra Podcast. He had received a DM from one of his sources during the podcast regarding a certain game coming to Xbox that, if and when it is revealed, would, in co-host _Sikamikanico’s words, “set the internet on fire” and “cause drama.”
