Neil Druckmann Offers Clarification On His Earlier “Don’t Bet On More The Last Of Us” Comment

Naughty Dog president and game director Neil Druckmann has offered clarification on his earlier comment about not betting on there being more of The Last of Us.

During an interview with Etalk, Neil Druckmann was asked about his earlier comment on the future of The Last of Us. The Naughty Dog president had previously told fans not to bet on there being another entry in the series. In his response, Druckmann said that he treats every game he makes like it could be his last work, so he pours everything into it.

Druckmann further mentioned that he left nothing on the table when he worked on the first The Last of Us game. According to him, this is how he has treated his work, as he wasn’t sure if he could ever get to make a sequel, which is why he felt that it had to have a definitive ending.

Likewise, Druckmann felt the same when he worked on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Last of Us Part 2. He doesn’t know if he would ever get to work on either series again it, which is why both games have a definitive ending. According to him, for there to be another entry in The Last of Us series, so many stars have to align. At this time, he can’t guarantee it, so his current focus is on Season of the TV series, provided HBO renews the show for the next season.  Besides his involvement in the TV series, he pointed out that he currently has his hands full with the development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Recently, industry insider DanielRPK had claimed that The Last of Us Part 3 is already in an advanced stage of production. Naughty Dog game director Neil Druckmann is of a different view, however. If the game is indeed in development, it’s possible that he wants it to remain under the wraps until an official reveal.
