Sales of Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake have now surpassed 9 million copies, making it the fastest-selling game in franchise history.
The Resident Evil 4 remake development team has shared via its official Twitter/X account that the game’s sales have surpassed 9 million copies as of December 19, 2024. This milestone makes it the fastest-selling title in the series’ history.
Based on the above information, the Resident Evil 4 remake was able to sell 9 million copies by its 8th quarter since launch. In comparison, Resident Evil Village sold 7.9 million copies during the same period, Resident Evil VII sold 6.1 million copies, the Resident Evil 3 remake sold 5.2 million copies, the Resident Evil 2 remake sold 7.8 million copies, and Resident Evil 6 sold 5.9 million copies.
As for lifetime sales, the Resident Evil 4 remake still has some catching up to do. The Resident Evil 2 remake has sold over 14.2 million copies, Resident Evil VII has sold over 13.7 million, Resident Evil Village has sold over 10.1 million, Resident Evil 5 has sold over 9.2 million, Resident Evil 6 has sold over 9.2 million, and the Resident Evil 3 remake has sold over 9 million.
Back in October, 2024, the Resident Evil 4 remake development team had shared that the game’s sales had surpassed 8 million copies as of September 30, 2024. This confirms that the game has sold at least 1 million copies during the last quarter (October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024).
The previously reported figure for the game was approximately 7.6 million, indicating that Resident Evil 4 Remake continues to perform well, now achieving over 9 million sales across PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. The game has proven to be a remarkable success for Capcom, currently outpacing other titles in the franchise.
