The release of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s latest entry in the Tekken fighting game series, Tekken 8, may happen by March, 2024, based on the latest information.
In its Financial Report for the First Quarter of the Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2024, Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared that it is planning to release major titles, including Naruto X Boruto, in the second half of the Fiscal Year. While Tekken 8 wasn’t specifically mentioned, it is indeed a major upcoming title for the publisher, and, therefore, is highly likely to be included in the mentioned major releases.
A release in the second half of the Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2024, suggest that Tekken 8 will see the light of day sometime between October, 2023 and March, 2024. However, a rating filed by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea on August 11, 2023, suggested that the game would be released within the first half of 2024. Putting two and two together, and also taking into account that the Tekken World Tour season ends on January 14, 2024, this leaves us will a likely release for Tekken 8 between the second half of January, 2024, and March, 2024.
As per the aforementioned rating in Korea, Tekken 8 has been rated 15+, and is therefore suitable for 15 year olds and above. According to the reason cited for this rating, the classification decision states that Tekken 8 features limited violence, which involves continuous fighting. Therefore, in accordance with Article 21 of the Game Industry Promotion Act and Article 7 Subparagraph 3 of the Rating Regulations, the game was determined suitable for 15 year olds and above.
Previously, the full launch character roster for Tekken 8 had allegedly been leaked. It originated from a closed beta test of Tekken 8, during which some players datamined the game. An offscreen image was later discovered, appearing to showcase all the fighters that will be available at the game’s launch. With 32 fighters in total and a new announcement at Evo 2023, this leak has proven to be accurate.
