Xbox Will Reportedly Make More First-Party Games Console Exclusive

Microsoft plans to make more of its biggest first-party games console exclusive to Xbox, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The publication reports that while major multiplayer titles will continue to launch across multiple platforms, the company intends to reserve more of its flagship single-player and premium releases for Xbox to encourage console sales.

According to Bloomberg, “While big multiplayer games will still be available on all the major platforms, Microsoft will make more of its best titles exclusive to Xbox so gamers have a reason to buy its console.”

The reported strategy follows Microsoft’s announcement of a sweeping restructuring across its gaming division. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently confirmed that approximately 3,200 jobs will be cut during FY27 as part of what the company described as the biggest reorganisation in Xbox’s history.

The restructuring includes workforce reductions across multiple teams, changes to studio ownership and a broader effort to simplify the company’s operations. Microsoft has also said it plans to reduce management layers, lower vendor spending and reorganise several parts of the Xbox business.

Microsoft has not publicly confirmed any changes to its first-party publishing strategy beyond what has already been announced. If Bloomberg‘s report is accurate, it would represent a notable shift after the company spent recent years expanding support for additional platforms with several Xbox-published games.
