Bully 2 has been rumored to be in development for some time, but this is the first time we’ve seen alleged screenshots from the game.
A Reddit member has got a hold of screenshots that they claim were obtained from a private Discord server, which show a conversation about the development and existing progress of Bully 2 along with screenshots allegedly obtained from the current build.
Based on the conversation seen in the screenshot above, Bully 2 is in active development and is likely to release 2 to 3 years after GTA VI, as it looks to be a little behind the latter in terms of progress. According to this conversation, development originally began in 2009. However, it had to be placed on hold, as the development of GTA V, followed by Red Dead Redemption 2, required more workforce.
As such, Bully 2 wasn’t back in the conversation at Rockstar Games until much latter, claims the source. It was running on the outdated GTA IV engine, at which point, the developer decided to start from scratch on the newer game engine with more advanced features.
According to the source, the 2009 and 2019 versions of Bully 2 are completely different games. The 2009 version continued Jimmy’s story, and was essentially a better version of the first game with a different story. The 2017 version, on the other hand, has a brand new lead character called Aimee and is set in a fictional English city called Eldon, the source claims.
The source further claims that the city of Eldon is more or less a fictional take on Essex. Furthermore, the game mainly takes place in a public school called Bull and Kay. According to the source, players will be able to do average teen chores, day jobs at corner stores, part-time jobs at the school as a janitor etc. Given that the game takes place inside a school, the playable world is a lot smaller than in other games from Rockstar.
According to the source, development on Bully 2 has once again been put on hold so that all available developers may contribute to the development of GTA VI. Though, they’re confident that, once GTA VI has been shipped, the focus will shift towards Bully 2. They claim that this is because no other upcoming title from Rockstar, including a potential Red Dead Redemption 3, is anywhere close to the progress of Bully 2.
While the alleged screenshots and information regarding Bully 2 will surely entice fans who have waited long for a sequel, we recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt.
