Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a native PS5 and Xbox Series X version, and based on a new update, it might be a lot closer to reality now.
While CD Projekt Red has only shared a Q1 2022 release window for this next-generation release, PlayStation Size, a Twitter account that regularly shares updates on games that have been discovered on the PlayStation Database has revealed that a PS5 version has been spotted. This is uploaded to the official Sony servers.
This is as likely as it gets when it comes to the confirmation that CD Projekt Red is closer to announcing a release date for Cyberpunk 2077. The PS5 version doesn’t appear to have a file size otherwise we might have found out about it already, but at least it exists in a separate form compared to the PS4.
In the past, Cyberpunk 2077 used to run with a PS4 backward compatible version on the PS5. While this supported 60 FPS, it wasn’t a great port and had pared-down visuals compared to the PC version. It also lagged behind the Xbox Series X version.
The PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 remains the definitive way to experience the game. It supports ray-tracing and offers the best performance with 60 FPS, high resolution, and mod support. Compared to the PC version, the game struggles to run on the PS4 and Xbox One. It drops the frame rate to 30 FPS and doesn’t even maintain it. This is why there is some anticipation behind a native PS5 and Xbox Series X release.
