Digimon Survive was supposed to be a game that would kickstart a new spin-off for the Digimon series, instead, it ended up being delayed indefinitely.
Digimon series hasn’t seen a new game since the release of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory on the PS4. While Bandai Namco has ported the recent Digimon games to the Nintendo Switch, they haven’t launched a new one in more than three years now.
The good news is that there is some hope for the game releasing soon. This is thanks to the Australian Rating Board which has listed the game and confirmed that it has been rated.
Digimon Survive was supposed to release in 2020 but then COVID-19 happened, and the rest was history. It was a new SRPG with elements of a visual novel, so it all sounds fantastic at least in theory. What was not clear was how long it would take to release the game. It was announced back in 2018 and has yet to get a release date. It should be coming later in 2022 if we believe Bandai Namco.
The latest delay was announced in the financial report of TOEI Animation. They listed the game with a 2022 release window, but if the Australian Rating is out, it could mean that an announcement for the release date is also due soon.
Digimon Survive was confirmed for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
