Square Enix has already confirmed that they will release a demo of Final Fantasy XVI. The question was always about when the demo would be released, and based on the update on the PlayStation Store, the launch of the demo could be imminent. It might even be announced during the upcoming Summer Games Fest.

Final Fantasy XVI is the latest installment in the cult classic franchise, which last saw a major new game in 2016 with the release of Final Fantasy XV. The latest chapter in the popular RPG is being developed by the Creative Business Unit 3 at Square Enix, which also handles Final Fantasy XIV. The game is being directed by Hiroshi Takai, with Naoki Yoshida serving as the producer.

Final Fantasy XVI is set in the world of Valisthea. The game stars Clive Rosfield and features a story centered around magical crystals and Dominants, humans that act as hosts for the Eikons for each of the six nations in the game. The game is an action RPG, following in the footsteps of its predecessor. The combat is inspired by games like Devil May Cry, with a focus on fast-paced, flashy attacks, and there are also cinematic moments reminiscent of a God of War game where the different Eikons will be able to fight against each other.

Final Fantasy XVI will be released on June 22, 2023, exclusively for the PS5. The game will also be coming to PC but at a later date
