Jason Schreier Says Rumored Rocksteady Batman Beyond Game Leak Is Fake

by Salal Awan

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has shut down recent claims that Rocksteady Studios is developing a Batman Beyond game, calling the widely circulated rumor fake.

The rumor, which spread across social media and gaming forums over the past several days, claimed that Rocksteady had taken over a previously cancelled Batman Beyond project following the commercial failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It also included alleged prototype screenshots and extensive story details describing a futuristic Gotham City starring Terry McGinnis as Batman.

The original 4chan rumor claimed the game would act as a continuation of the Arkham universe following a major time skip after Batman: Arkham Knight. It alleged that veteran Batman writer Paul Dini had returned to work on the project and that the story would loosely adapt the Batman Beyond animated series while introducing Terry McGinnis as the franchise’s new protagonist.

The fake leak also described numerous gameplay systems supposedly planned for the project, including the use of Warner Bros.’ Nemesis System, a futuristic Gotham inspired by Cyberpunk 2077, motorcycle traversal, batsuit customization, and a narrative centered around villain Derek Powers, also known as Blight.

The anonymous poster further attempted to explain inconsistencies in the leaked screenshots by claiming they had been processed through AI filters to hide watermarks tied to internal builds.

Following Schreier’s comments, the rumor now appears to be entirely debunked.

The situation gained traction partly because earlier reports had already confirmed Rocksteady was working on a new Batman-related project after the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, no official details regarding the studio’s next game have been announced publicly by Warner Bros. Games or Rocksteady.

Some users had also pointed out that several assets shown in the fake screenshots appeared to reuse interface elements and visual material from Suicide Squad, which further fueled skepticism surrounding the leak before Schreier addressed it directly.
