Based on the details found regarding the Quest Pass subscription service, subscribers will be able to acquire two new games or apps each month. Users will be required to login each month to claim the freebies in order to build their library of VR games and apps. It is also explicitly stated that users will only be able to keep their games and apps for as long as they are subscribed.

Resubscribing at any point will once again grant you access to your Quest Pass library. Going by the description, Quest Pass sounds more like Xbox Games With Gold and less like Xbox Game Pass.

Previously, Meta had announced a $100 price hike for the Meta Quest 2 from August 2022 onward, increasing the standalone VR headset’s price to $399 and $499 for the 128GB and 256GB models, respectively. According to the VR headset manufacturer, the company has been all-in on VR and invested billions of dollars to foster a healthy VR ecosystem since the early days of PC and mobile to today’s high-end standalone 6DOF headsets. With best-in-class hardware, action-packed games, and cutting-edge research on the way to really next-gen devices, it had decided to make a shift that would allow it continue to invest for the long haul and continue pushing the VR industry forward.

The company cited rising manufacturing and shipping costs as the reason behind the Meta Quest 2 price hike. Meta Quest 2 is a VR headset developed by Facebook Reality Labs (formerly Oculus). It is the successor to the Oculus Quest, the previous headset from the company. On September 16, 2020, the Quest 2 was officially unveiled during Facebook Connect 7.
