Sony has released a minor PS4 system software update today bumping the version to 9.51. This coincides with a PS5 system update.

There doesn’t appear to be much in terms of the changes just like the recent PS5 update. The official website has listed the changelog which simply mentions that it improves system performance.

Here’s what was said by Sony regarding the changes for PS4 update 9.51.

PS4 Update 9.51 Changelog

Version 9.51

This system software update improves system performance.

Version 9.50

In Party, we’ve updated the following:

  • Now when you start a party, you can select either an open party or a closed party.
    • An open party lets your friends join without an invite. Friends of party members can also join. A closed party is only for players you invite.
  •  You can now individually adjust the voice chat volume of each player in a party.
  • We’ve added Ukrainian language support.

The last update made changes to the functionality of the Party feature. It allowed the users to pick between an open or closed party while also adding support for the Ukrainian language.

PS4 has been surpassed by PS5 which is now out for more than a year. It is still getting support from third-party developers while Sony is also supporting it with some of their first-party games, the latest being God of War Ragnarok which is scheduled to come out later this year.
