Characters from the Spyro the Dragon games have been discovered in a recent datamine of Toys for Bob’s Crash Team Rumble.
References to characters from the Spyro the Dragon games, including Spyro, Ripto and Elora, have been found in files for Crash Team Rumble via a datamine. Given how Spyro the Dragon’s 25th anniversary happens later this year in September, 2023, it’s likely that characters from the series will be added to Crash Team Rumble around the same time.
Additionally, the datamine has revealed some of the abilities of the leaked characters as well as cosmetics and a new game mode titled “Zaptrap”.
The datamine has also uncovered evidence regarding the possibility of microtransactions being added to Crash Team Rumble at some point in the future. The game files include mention of “virtual currency”, which indicates that in-game items, possibly including characters, outfits, and more, may soon be available for purchase using real money.
Released on June 20, 2023, Crash Team Rumble is an online multiplayer video game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. It serves as the third installment in the Crash Bandicoot series within the party genre. The game features a variety of beloved characters from the Crash Bandicoot universe.
Crash Team Rumble adopts a competitive four-versus-four format, presenting an online multiplayer experience categorized as a “strategic platformer.” Players can assume the roles of iconic characters like Crash, Cortex, Coco, Dingodile, Brio, and Tawna. The objective is for teams to gather as much Wumpa Fruit as possible while hindering their opponents’ progress. To achieve victory, teams must outscore their rivals in Wumpa Fruit accumulation.
Apart from depositing their own stash of Wumpa Fruit at designated drop-off zones, players must actively defend their opponent’s drop-off zones to thwart their adversaries’ efforts. Each character possesses unique skills and abilities, enabling them to engage in thrilling battles against the opposing team. The character roster is divided into three distinct roles: “Blocker,” “Booster,” and “Scorer,” ensuring a diverse range of gameplay strategies. Additionally, Crash Team Rumble supports cross-platform play, enabling players from all platforms to compete against each other.
