Starfield is a highly anticipated game of 2022, but while Microsoft is clear on its exclusivity, fans are still hoping it comes to the PS5.
Recently, there was some chatter over an interview of Bethesda Community Lead, Pete Hines where his words suggested that the game might be timed exclusive. As the news of this started to get around, Pete Hines replied making it clear that this is the fans simply grasping at straws.
Starfield and other Bethesda games like The Elder Scrolls VI are only going to release on the Xbox and PC. They will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, which is big news on its own. While Starfield is a new IP, it is the first major IP from Todd Howard who had quite a lot of success on his hands with games like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. There is obviously a lot of hype behind it.
Fallout and The Elder Scrolls are two of the best-selling WRPGs of all time. Fallout 4 sold a record amount of copies at its launch while the best-selling WRPG of all time is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Starfield being a new sci-fi WRPG from the studio behind two prestige IPs makes it highly appealing to anyone who loves the genre.
Aaron Greenberg, who is the general manager of Xbox Marketing also stressed again that these games are only remaining exclusive to the Xbox and PC. Deathloop is one of the newest Bethesda games that is timed exclusive to PS5 for one year, however, the deal for this game had already been finalized before Microsoft acquired Bethesda.
