Players indulged in plugging during online matches in Bandai Namco Entertainment’s fighting game, Tekken 8, are now getting banned.
Those who have been banned due to plugging in online matches will be greeted with a message that informs them about the severity of their violation of the End User License Agreement (EULA) with respect to online matches in Tekken 8. As a result of the ban, players who have been involved in plugging will no longer be able to use online play functions in the game.
As seem above, the streamer known as LowTierGod (also known as Dale Wilson) has met the same fate. As of now, his original account has been permanently banned form playing online in Tekken 8 due to plugging. During his stream, the Tekken 8 player protested that he wasn’t deliberately involved in plugging, and that he only switched scenes during the stream to make it appear like he was using the ‘Alt+F4’ keys to plug for “stream antics”. He believes that it should be illegal to ban someone for willingly closing a game they paid for. It’s worth mentioning that the streamer still has access to the game’s offline modes and features, and has only been banned from online play.
While the streamer has claimed that he was only switching scenes for “stream antics”, there have been earlier reports of him rage quitting out of a match. Bandai Namco has likely collected relevant data from his online activity, and has, therefore, made an informed decision. That said, he is back online in Tekken 8 using an alternate account, and is once again streaming his matches.
Previously, Tekken 8 producer Katsuhiro Harada took to Twitter/X to share that fellow producer Michael Murray had sent him and the game’s development team a large spreadsheet of rage quitters who were to receive a ban. The file name of the aforementioned spreadsheet was “List of Fuxxxrs to Ban.xlsx”, many of whom were said to be rage quitters or “pluggers”. The worst offenders as well as those who brag about such behavior over social media had been highlighted in red.
