Cyberpunk 2077 review codes are extremely limited, and there is no concrete information on a review embargo, which means most won’t go live before launch.
CD Projekt Red is giving the distribution of Cyberpunk 2077 review codes to the local publishers for the smaller countries and the big ones like the United States and Europe, they are handling it themselves. Since it is one of the most anticipated games of the year, there is a lot of demand for the review code.
Due to this unprecedented demand, CD Projekt Red hasn’t been able to supply review codes to most outlets in North America. The review code distributor for CD Projekt Red in the USA gave a timeline for this week sharing an update on when the codes will be sent, but they weren’t sure if the codes will be provided to most of the outlets who have requested it on their portal.
As for the Cyberpunk 2077 review embargo, it is expected to drop on Monday, December 7. OpenCritic also suggests that a limited number of codes have been given out to some outlets that will publish a review of the game on December 7. So the general idea is that the review embargo will drop on Monday but there won’t be many reviews at launch.
This is the exact opposite of what the CEO of CD Projekt Red, Adam Kicińksi had told investors in a recent conference call. “We are 15 days away from launch. We are entering the most intensive phase of our marketing and PR campaign. On top of that in the next two weeks, we’ll be sending review copies of the game to journalists around the world, enabling them to publish their impressions and reviews of Cyberpunk before its release.”
Sadly, this is not the case so it is possible that some of the early reviews might be rushed but if you are waiting for a more accurate representation of the quality of the game, we suggest waiting until more outlets can publish their reviews. We can also confirm that we have a code request for Cyberpunk 2077 but haven’t received a review code as of yet.
