Details regarding the review embargo for Square Enix’s upcoming action role-playing game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, have been revealed.
The review embargo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to be lifted in a few weeks, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 6AM PST/ 9AM EST/ 3PM CET. This is a week ahead of the game’s launch on February 29, 2024. Fans can, therefore, look forward to hearing what critics have to say about the second installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga.
Additionally, the pre-load for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to go live on PlayStation Network on February 27, 2024, two days prior to the game’s launch. It will come with the latest update pre-installed for those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to launch on February 29, 2024. Meanwhile, those who purchased the game on disc will need to download the day one update.
Meanwhile, the download size of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a massive 145.250 GB. For comparison’s sake, Final Fantasy VII Remake was 79.93 GB on PS4 while Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was 75.75 GB. This essentially means that the sequel is almost twice the size of the original. It is one of the biggest games in terms of file size, at least on the PS5. Those with limited available space on the internal storage drive are advised to clear up some space in advance. It goes without saying that internal SSD expansion options are available for those who need them.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set for release exclusively on PS5. Similar to its predecessor, the gameplay will blend real-time action with strategic and role-playing elements. The narrative unfolds immediately after the events of Remake. Players will take control of the mercenary Cloud Strife and a party primarily consisting of members from the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE. Together, they embark on a journey across the Planet to thwart the megacorporation Shinra’s exploitation of the Lifestream, the planet’s life essence, as an energy source. Additionally, they aim to defeat Sephiroth, a former elite SOLDIER, who plans to unite with the Planet to gain greater power.
