Original Story

Persona 3, 4, and 5 may be on their way to Xbox, based on a new rumor. It appears that this announcement is set to happen today at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase.

The rumor comes from a source that has been accurate in the past. It’s none other than The Snitch on Twitter, who have previously leaked the contents of Sony’s prior State of Play event as well as The Last of Us Part 1 remake coming to PS5 on September 2. A PC version of the game was also leaked by them, and was later confirmed during the Summer Game Fest.

The Snitch’s tweet only mentions Persona in name, but some of the alphabets are replaced by numbers, indicating that they’re referring to Persona 3, 4, and 5.

The mainline Persona series has remained exclusive to PlayStation for a long time now. It’s only recently that Sega and Atlus released Persona 4 Golden on PC via Steam. It looks like Atlus is now gearing up to have a strong presence on Xbox with the arrival of three of the most popular mainline games in the Persona.

It’s also likely that future Persona games will see a day and date release on platforms besides PlayStation. This was certainly the case with the sequel to Persona 5, Persona 5 Strikers, as it was released on PS4, Switch, and PC simultaneously.

Atlus released Persona 5 in 2016 for the PS3 in Japan only, and the PS4 globally. It is the sixth and latest chapter in the Persona RPG series, which is a sub-franchise of the Megami Tensei brand. Persona 5 Royal, an improved version with additional content and new features was later released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan on October 2019 and globally on March 2020.

Persona 5 is set in modern-day Tokyo and follows Joker, a high school student who moves to a new school after being wrongly convicted of assault and placed on probation. Over the course of a school year, he and other classmates awaken to a rare power, becoming the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, a hidden vigilante club.

They go into the Metaverse, a mystical place created by humanity’s subconscious desires, in order to take ill intent from adults’ hearts. The crew faces adversaries known as Shadows utilizing physical representations of their psyche known as Personas, like in previous games in the series. Role-playing and dungeon crawling aspects are mixed together with social simulation scenarios in Persona 5.
