Pokémon Sword and Shield Has a Cool 4th Wall Breaking Easter Egg

by Ali Haider

Pokémon Sword and Shield fans have discovered an easter egg in the game that breaks the 4th wall and it is apparently pretty cool.

It is not every day that we see games that have 4th wall breaking Easter eggs. These are rare in most games and when they do exist, they can be pretty cool to witness in the game. Death Stranding is a big-budget game that has launched recently and it also features one such easter egg. Pokémon Sword and Shield have now also joined this list of games.

This easter egg is quite easy to miss in the game especially if you don’t have multiple Joy-Con controllers for your Nintendo Switch. It is basically a neat trick that Nintendo has implemented in the game that acknowledges the color of Joy-Con that is attached to the console ane reflects it in the game by changing textures.

As shared in a tweet by a Japanese user, it can trigger if you replace the default Gray Joy-Con controllers (or Neon) with another colored Joy-Con. In the home of the main protagonist, you can find a Nintendo Switch console that will have the same Joy-Con color as the user console. This won’t be noticeable if you don’t pay attention and it is useless since there doesn’t appear to be any use to it aside from changing colors.

Nonetheless, it is a nice easter egg that has been implemented in the game by Game Freak. Pokémon Sword and Shield are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
