Sony has a tendency to delay their PS Plus announcement until the end of the month. This is the first time they revealed the games in the State of Play.
Sony held a presentation to demonstrate games that are coming to their PS4 console in the upcoming days. The big reveal of the event was The Last of Us Part 2 but tucked away inside was a confirmation of the PS Plus games lineup for October 2019.

Sony has confirmed that two major games will join the PlayStation Plus subscription for the upcoming month. These two games are The Last of Us Remastered and MLB 19 The Show for the PS4.
This is the first time Sony is offering the latest MLB The Show game for PS Plus subscribers. Normally, they have mostly offered third-party or indie games for those who have an active PS+ subscription. MLB 19 The Show launched earlier this May and as a fairly recent game, its inclusion for PlayStation Plus was a surprise today.

The second game that will accompany MLB 19 The Show is The Last of Us Remastered. This will be released ahead of the launch of The Last of Us Part 2 and since the stories are connected, Sony played it smart by giving it for free.
Both of these games are confirmed for North America and likely for Europe as well. It is possible that Sony removes The Last of Us Remastered for a substitute game in the case for regions where the game has been banned due to violence. In region 2, the violence was toned down for the multiplayer of The Last of Us Remastered. Both of these will be available on the service on October 1st.
