The names of the Japanese studios working on the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Ghost of Tsushima anime productions are not yet known. Though, it’s worth mentioning that Sekiro developer From Software is a subsidiary of Kadokawa corporation, which is also in the business of producing and distributing anime.

Previously, it was reported that an animated adaptation of a PlayStation first-party IP is in development. Speaking on the official PlayStation podcast, the Head of PlayStation Productions, Asad Qizilbash, stated that the company has 10 projects in various stages of development, including film, television, and little bit of animation as well. This was the first confirmation of PlayStation producing an animated adaptation based on one of its first-party IPs. Qizilbash didn’t go into specifics regarding the IP that is being adapted into an animated movie or series, but it may well be Ghost of Tsushima in light of the latest rumors.

Ghost of Tsushima, released in 2020, is an action-adventure game created by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The protagonist, Jin Sakai, assumes the role of a samurai determined to safeguard Tsushima Island during the initial Mongol invasion of Japan.

On October 16, 2020, as part of update 1.1, Ghost of Tsushima introduced a New Game+ mode and a free multiplayer expansion called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. PlayStation 5 owners received complimentary enhancements, including improved load times and the option for 60 frames per second, compared to the 30 frames per second available on the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Following that, on August 20, 2021, a re-release of the game titled Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut was made available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Alongside the re-release, an expansion called Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island was introduced. The PlayStation 5 version of the game offered additional features such as haptic triggers, Japanese lip-sync, and faster loading times.
