The Last of Us Part 2 was originally set to launch on May 29. The game was delayed from its initial release date to June 19. After the COVID-19 pandemic started to affect most countries of the world, Sony decided to delay the game in order to get physical shipments ready for launch.

The Last of Us Part 2 also faced an unfortunate story leak that spoiled major story twists. This leak was traced back to someone outside Sony and Naughty Dog but the damage was already done. After major spoilers have made their way online, Naughty Dog is urging fans to skip comments or discussion on social media in order to avoid spoilers.

The game went gold today and this was celebrated with a message by the game director, Neil Druckmann. You can have a look at the video below.

Neil Druckmann congratulates the development team and praises their efforts on the game. He talks about every aspect of the game development from art design to the soundtrack, which he especially highlights is extremely memorable.

The Last of Us Part 2 will be out on June 19th exclusively for the PS4.
