The Last of Us Part 2 has received an official release date in a State of Play that was presented by Sony. The game will be out on February 21, 2020.
During the State of Play presentation, Naughty Dog finally revealed The Last of Us Part 2 again but this time they also dropped a release date for the game. The trailer gives a glimpse of some of the story and gameplay moments featured in the game including showing the new infected.

The Last of Us Part 2 will see the return of Ellie who is all grown up now. She forges new friendships and also meets with new characters in this post-apocalyptic world. Naughty Dog had been teasing the reveal for a long time now and it was finally confirmed through the trailer that was released today.
In the trailer, Ellie can be seen doing a bunch of activities like riding on a horse, traveling through the snow and getting hurt by an arrow. There are some returning characters including Tommy but the biggest moment in the trailer is arguably the return of Joel. He looks much older now due to how five years have passed between the two games.

The release date for the game was leaked ahead of the announcement but it ended up being a placeholder. An earlier leak had listed the content of the four different retail editions and it has turned out to be accurate.
The Last of Us had achieved Universal Acclaim so the sequel is one of the most hotly anticipated PS4 exclusives. The game is now confirmed to launch on February 21, 2020, and will be out for the PS4. The game is being developed by Naughty Dog and will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
