Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy XV for Xbox Game Pass today. What was not confirmed was that this is going to be the definitive edition.
Final Fantasy series is coming to the Xbox Game Pass later this year. It will begin with Final Fantasy XV and continue with more games including Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, X, and X-2. Basically the entire Final Fantasy series from VII and onwards, aside from XI and XIV, is coming to the Xbox Game Pass.

The first game in the Final Fantasy series that has been released on Xbox Game Pass is Final Fantasy XV. It was originally believed to be the regular edition of the game that lacked any of the post-launch DLC support.
The first surprise regarding Final Fantasy XV coming to Xbox Game Pass is that this is the Royal Edition of the game. In other words, this is the definitive edition version that comes with all of the post-launch DLC and adds tons of new content including expanding the ending of the game.
