God of War Ragnarok Is Currently The Highest Rated PlayStation Exclusive Of The Generation

Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarok is now the highest rated PlayStation exclusive of the current console generation.

Based on the aggregate stats available on both Metacritic and OpenCritic, God of War Ragnarok ranks as the highest rated PlayStation exclusive title of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S console generation. According to OpenCritic, God of War Ragnarok is also currently the 7th highest rated original game of all time. It also takes the #2 spot in the 2022 Hall of Fame, trailing behind From Software’s Elden Ring.

God of War Ragnarok received universal acclaim from critics, achieving an aggregate score of 94 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic. The game was lauded for its story, characters, and visceral combat. However, some critics did criticize the game for being too similar to the original. It is the second-highest rated game of the year 2022, behind From Software’s Elden Ring.

For the uninitiated, the pre-load for God of War Ragnarok is now live for those who pre-ordered the game digitally on PSN. The final download size of the game at launch has also been revealed. As expected, the pre-load for God of War Ragnarok went live on the expected date of November 2, 2022, and the launch download size for both PS4 and PS5 has now been revealed. Those who pre-ordered their digital copy on PSN can now head over to their PS4 or PS5 and begin their pre-load.

The game weighs in at 84.095 GB on PS5, with the latest patch i.e. update 1.03, pre-installed. Meanwhile, the PS4 version comes in at 106.817 GB with the latest patch installed. Details regarding what update 1.03 does are limited, though it primarily improves the state of the game over the previous update i.e. version 1.02. The update was rolled out very recently on October 29, 2022.
