The last couple of games had Jason Voorhees, Freddy, and Alien as playable characters, so there has been a wide range of characters used from the various forms of entertainment including the series itself. Ed Boon had some different characters in mind to use as potential DLC for Mortal Kombat 11.
The three guest characters that Ed Boon wanted to add in the game were rather unconventional. First up, he wanted to add someone from the Street Fighter series, which is another iconic fighting game franchise. Perhaps, a good candidate here could be Akuma which has been in various crossovers.
The second and third guest characters that Ed Boon picked both centered on a single actor, Keanu Reeves. Ed Boon wanted to add John Wick played by Keanu Reeves, or Neo from The Matrix, as one of the playable DLC characters to Mortal Kombat 11. Of course, both of these didn’t pan out in the actual game, or perhaps something can be worked out in the future.
