It will choose a random partner online and the trade will happen and you will end up with a random Pokemon.
This is why it is called a Surprise Trade because you don’t know the Pokemon that you are putting up for trade and what will you get in return for it. Surprise Trade is a feature of Y-comm. Surprise Trade is also possible locally in the game.
